Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice, rinsed
- 500g beef, cubed
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp whole pilau masala (cloves, cumin, cardamom, cinnamon)
- 4 cups beef broth or water
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt to taste

In a large pot, heat the oil and brown the beef cubes. Remove and set aside.

In the same pot, add the sliced onions and cook until deeply caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

Add the garlic, ginger, and pilau masala. Cook for one minute until fragrant.

Return the beef to the pot. Add the rinsed rice and stir gently to coat with the spices.

Pour in the beef broth or water and season with salt. Bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot tightly, and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
